Congratulations to the 2018 Award winners announced at last night’s gala dinner during HIC 2018 in Sydney. It was a night filled with memories, reminiscing and rekindled friendships across the health informatics community which founded HISA 25 years ago.
AWARD WINNERS
The Jon Hilton award For Excellence in Primary Care Informatics was presented to Assoc Professor Terry Hannan, from the University of Tasmania, and Visiting Fellow, Centre for Health Informatics, Macquarie University, Sydney, Certified Health Informatician Australasia and Fellow of the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics. This is awarded to a person or organisation who best personifies the priorities for which Jon was such an advocate. These include innovation in primary, community care and chronic disease management.
The Joan Edgecumbe Award was presented to Jaffly Chen from the University of New England and the University of Newcastle.
Don Walker Awards
Best Industry Abstract: Dr Zachary Tan, CancerAid for the abstract titled: CancerAid: An Oncology Digital Companion for Patient-Reported Outcomes with Electronic Health Record Integration.
Best Clinical Abstract: Associate Professor Cheryl McCullagh, The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network for the abstract titled: My Health Memory: Patient facing solution Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network.
Branko Cesnik Awards
Branko Cesnik Student Award was presented to Sami Alkhatib from The University of Melbourne with the paper titled Privacy and the Internet of Things (IoT) monitoring solutions for older adults: A review.
Branko Cesnik Award was presented to Associate Professor Melissa Baysari from Macquarie University with the paper titled Usability of reports generated by computerised dose prediction software.
A special Loyalty Award was presented in HISA’s 25th anniversary year to long-standing partner and supporter Cerner.
